Super Paper Mario

Wednesday, January 14th, 2009

In Super Paper Mario you can play as either Mario, princess Peach, or Bowser. You will be playing with Mario the most. He can jump high and all the other things he always used to do.

Peach can jump in the air glide down using her umbrella and do cool tricks while in the air. This will attract the attention of a crowd. The more tricks you do the larger the crowd will get.

Bowser is a big character to play with. He is very slow and cannot jump high. His advantages are that he can breath fire and that he is so big.

Super Paper Mario is really interesting because you can play it as a sidescroller, but also as a 3d game. Matter of fact, you will be switching between both modes frequently. Anytime it seems that you have reached a dead end or cannot do a long jump, just switch over to the other mode and the answer might be right in front of you.

Star Mario is cool addition to the game. When you collect this power up, you turn into this humongous eight bit Mario that demolishes everything in his way. This glory does not last forever, though.

Another cool edition to the Paper Mario world are the Pixies. These are handy little see-through sidekicks who make your life a little bit easier. There are more than 5 Pixies and each has his or her own ability. One lets you float, another builds a wall of spikes around you, and more.

There are some cool items in this game, like the small eight bit Marios that help you defeat enemies and stick by your side until they are defeated

If you have not played Super Paper Mario for the Wii yet, then you are missing out on so much fun. This is an excellent game that you need to play.

Paper Mario

Paper Mario is an rpg game with a couple of twists. Not only do you have the the battles, you also have to do some exploring. The cool thing about Paper Mario is that Mario, his friends and enemies are plat, but the world itself is in 3D.

This makes looking at the graphics interesting. The graphics are very bright and cartoony. Nothing to spectacular, but it gets the job done. The music and sound fx are of good quality, also.

The battle system is where you will have the most fun. As any other rpg you can do the ussual, such as attack, defend, and flee. But each character also has special moves.

Another feature about the game is that if you press the right button at the right time, your attack does more damage. Or if you are being attacked and you press the button at the time you would receive damage, you will receive less damage.

The game is basically split between battles and exploring. While exploring you can talk to your buddies and find items.

The reason you need to do so exploring is to find a way to get to Bowser. He has kidnapped the princess Peach and it is up to Super Mario to defeat him. This is not a quick task where you can skip stages to reach the boss fast.

You will have plenty of enemies and obstacles in your way to make it hard on you and Luigi. Good thing is that you can make your team stronger by gaining experiences. You gain experience by defeating enemies. The more you defeat the more experience you gain.

Paper Mario is definitely a video game you need to purchase. It is fun and easy to get into, and the battle system also has a little bit of depth for the rpg fans.

Super Mario 64 Review

Sunday, January 11th, 2009

Super Mario 64 is without a doubt a groundbreaking video game. Mario is fully in 3D for the first time. The graphics are clean and colorful. And there is so much to do it is quite daunting, but fun none the less.

You start of by going to the Mushroom castle and jumping into a painting. When you jump into one you will go to that level. The mission is to collect the stars and red coins, the more stars you collect, the more paintings you can jump into.

All the paintings in Super Mario 64 require a certain amount of stars. Super Mario himself has some awesome new moves. He can do a triple jump, with each jump he goes higher. He can jump forward for some extra speed. He can also jump in the air and then slide forward.

This time around Mario can fly when he has little wings on his cap, he can turn into a metal Mario, which lets him sink in the water and he can do a couple of other nifty moves.

When it comes to the levels in Super Mario 64, there are a lot. This game can easily keep you busy for longer than 20 hours if you want to collect everything and finish all the levels. It is not required to finish all the levels if you want to beat the game.

There are also many little touches and secrets in the game. Like Yoshi who is happy to see you and gives you a little surprise.

Enemies are plenty and varied. Of course you have the bomb enemies, but there are new ones that will surprise you.

If you have not played this game yet, you must not like video games. This game has single handedly set the standard for all other platforming games that come after it. Super Mario 64 is a classic.
